Defense through Courage and Wisdom
History: The Ravenwood family is for the most part a fairly new minor family. They gained their ranks and were granted the castle Crow’s Nest for their efforts and loyalty to the true ruling family of the seven kingdoms. Godric Ravenwood was the founding member of the family. He advised and led the Stormlords during the second rebellion. He personally commanded the doomed siege at Summerhall. The siege lasted three months against a vastly superior force giving the rest of the storm lord enough time to gather their forces and prepare for a counter attack against the loyalist. Lord Godric Ravenwood was last seen alive standing on the stairs leading to Summerhall keep as it burned behind him, commanding his men to “Die hard!” and die hard they did. The enemy had fired burning projectiles into the castle for three days before they breached the walls and gained access to the burning hell that was now Summerhall. One would think that was the end of it, but Godric lead his men in a staunch defense reforming defensive positions and fighting like devils, he always choose the most defensive and valuable position for his men forcing the enemy to fight for every inch until the final bloody end on the steps of the keep. After the rebellion and word of Godric Ravenwoods valiant defense of the now ruined Summerhall the lord of the Stormlands bestowed the Castle of Crow’s Nest upon his son Roderick so that a Ravenwood could always keep a watchful eye of the Stormlands from then on.
Since then the family has been known for their superior defensive minds and high quality armor crafted by their smiths from the large deposits of iron found in the hills of their lands. They have also gained a reputation for their elite guard known as the "Raven Guard" which some say can be hired for the right price and cause.
